Tianjin is a modern coastal city in northern China and home to 12 million people. This 3.5-hour morning tour will provide a panoramic introduction to the past 100 years of history that occupies a central place in modern Chinese memory. See Tianjin as seen by Sun Yat-sen, Eric Liddell, Herbert Hoover and many others. Meet the foreign businessmen, Chinese officials, diplomats and soldiers who shaped Tianjin and China and made it home. See where they lived, worked, worshiped and played.

The tour will be led by Douglas Red, a member of the AmCham China, Tianjin Chapter Executive Committee. With over three decades in China and Asia, Red is an enthusiastic Tianjin resident who formerly worked in the banking industry and has a degree in Asian Studies. Please visit the website www.asiawalkingtours.com to view more information about Tianjin and the walking tours.
Afterwards, enjoy lunch at Qing Wang Fu, a historical mansion constructed in 1922 as a private residence for the last Head Eunuch of the Forbidden City. It was the most prominent building owned by a Chinese citizen in the old English Concession. The property is now under the management of CCA International, a London-based hospitality group that specializes in operating boutique hotels and private membership clubs.

Qing Wang Fu has incorporated a unique Exhibition Museum to showcase the archives and history of the Prince Qing’s Residence, as well as those of its owners. Please visit their website (http://www.qingwangfu.com/en) to view more details.
