Understanding cross-cultural management is important for people who work in another culture or with people from other cultures. International professionals working in China need to be aware of the cultural differences between Chinese and Western working environments. But most tools in cross-cultural study have their limitations in explaining the differences. To fully appreciate those differences and understand the reasons behind them, one needs to examine Chinese culture from its very root.

In November’s Business in Focus Series, AmCham China will host Professor Tony Liu from the Beijing International MBA program at Peking University. Professor Liu will address the cross-cultural management issues in the Chinese context by exploring the fundamental aspects of Chinese culture, including ways of thinking and perception of the world. He will explain how this affects ways of thinking and behavior in business in China. It can also help international professionals tackle cross-cultural issues with more understanding and confidence.
AmCham China Business in Focus series features expert speakers from the faculties of participating business schools: Beijing International MBA at Peking University (BiMBA), Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, Guanghua School of Business, Tsinghua University-The University of North Carolina EMBA Program, University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business, and the University of Rochester Simon School of Business.
