Xinjiang once served as a key hub of the well-known Silk Road, and is a key part of the railway leading to the second Eurasia Continental Bridge. The “One Belt, One Road” Initiative also prioritizes development of the region through the updating of infrastructure, building of energy bases, creation of import and export industry clusters and developing Xinjiang into China's regional transportation, business logistic, finance, education and healthcare service center. Xinjiang's nominal GDP in 2015 was more than 143 billion dollars.
During the four-day trip, both provincial and municipal leaders will meet with the AmCham China delegation and present on Xinjiang’s latest investment climate and policies. The delegation will also have the opportunity to visit development zones and leading companies in Xinjiang. This will be a fantastic trip for members to explore and learn about Urumqi, Shihezi and Ili first-hand.
