Supply-side structural reform (SSSR) has become the Chinese government’s flagship economic policy, aimed at tackling key risks such as industrial overcapacity, excessive housing supply and high levels of corporate debt. Despite its importance to the economy and to foreign enterprises in China, few have analysed it outside of domestic policy circles.

Join us for a Policy+ Executive Dialogue with Tom Rafferty, Regional Manager, China, the Economist Intelligence Unit, as we look at:
What does SSSR entail? What progress on implementing the agenda has been made to date? What can we expect in 2017?

This event comes on the heals of the Economist Intelligence Unit's April 6th white paper launch - China’s supply-side structural reforms: Progress and outlook
The latest whitepaper from The Economist Intelligence Unit assesses each of the programme's five key objectives in turn, dissecting progress made to date and providing our expectations for 2017 and beyond:
  • cutting excess industrial capacity
  • destocking property inventory
  • corporate deleveraging
  • lowering corporate costs
  • improving “weak links”
